Library Board Meeting Minutes

July 14, 2008

 

Chairman Annette Sosa called the monthly meeting of the Stevens County Library Board of Trustees to order.  Those in attendance were Annette Sosa, Laura Hull, Lisa Whitham, Charlotte Veatch, and Eunice Schroeder.

 

The agenda was amended with an addition of by-laws revision under new business and the financial report to be given just before adjournment.

 

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.

 

Correspondence:

            A thank you from Wanda Williams was read.  An email from Southwest Kansas Library System was read concerning the tech grant that was used for the phone system.  Information from Southwest Kansas Library System was read indicating the grant for the Epson Scanner was received.  The Wichita Eagle informed the group that no newspapers would be delivered by mail.

 

The Director presented her report for the month.  Eunice also gave the Assistant Director’s report as Stacey Strickland was out of town.

 

Unfinished business included a review of the Goals and Objectives.  Questions concerning the Directives from the previous meeting were discussed.  Eunice reported that the 2009 budget was presented to the Stevens County Commissioners.  The Director also reported that the computers that were previously purchased were installed.

 

New business included a discussion on the by-laws revision.  The group will vote upon the by-laws revision at the following monthly meeting.  Kan Ed Subsidy for the year was discussed.  The IRS mileage rate of 58.5 cents per mile for the second half of 2008 was announced.  KPERS rate for 2009 was announced.  Discussion on a bid for pest control was conducted.  Eunice announced that the scanner that was purchased by a Mini Tech Grant will be in the library either Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

 

Laura Hull made a motion to go into executive session at 7:20 p.m. for fifteen minutes to discuss non-elected personnel.  Charlotte Veatch seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

At 7:25 p.m. Lisa Whitham made the motion to go out of executive session.  Annette Sosa seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Lisa Whitham made a motion to go back into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel at 7:28 p.m. for fifteen minutes.  Laura Hull seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

At 7:43 p.m. Charlotte Veatch made a motion to go out of executive session.  Annette seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Lisa Whitham made a motion to go back into executive session at 7:44 p.m. to discuss non-elected personnel for twenty minutes.  Laura Hull seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

At 7:50 p.m. Annette Sosa made a motion to go out of executive session.  Charlotte Veatch seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Lisa Whitham asked that the group go back into executive session at 7:53 p.m. for ten minutes to discuss non-elected personnel.  Laura Hull seconded the motion. The motion carried.

 

At 8:03 p.m. Lisa Whitham made a motion to go out of executive session.  Charlotte Veatch seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

 

At 8:04 p.m. Lisa Whitham made a motion to go back into executive session for fifteen minutes to discuss non-elected personnel.  Annette Sosa seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

At 8:08 p.m. Charlotte Veatch made a motion to go out of executive session.  Annette Sosa seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
