Stevens County Library to Participate in Kansas Reads to Preschoolers 2019 A statewide initiative encouraging early childhood literacy The State Library’s one-book/one-state reading initiative, Kansas Reads to Preschoolers, highlights the importance of reading to children with a goal that every Kansas child from birth to age five is read to during the week of November 10-16.  One age-appropriate book is selected for storytime in libraries, preschools, childcare centers and homes throughout Kansas. Nailed It – Teen Art Challenge

Ages 13-18 are invited to test their art skills (or lack thereof) by competing in a “Nailed It”-type art challenge on Saturday, October 19 from 5:00-7:00pm. We will (badly) recreate famous art and giggle at the results. Snacks will be available. If you wish to support Teen Activities at the library, donations of (unopened) chips, cookies, snack foods, and soda are always appreciated!

Unattended Children in the Library

All children under the age of eight (8) or one with special needs relating to physical and mental ability will be accompanied by their care provider at all times unless they are actively participating in a scheduled library activity.  Care providers for children under the age of eight (8) must be sixteen (16) years of age or older.  Older siblings under the age of sixteen (16) are not acceptable as care providers. Concern for the child’s safety is paramount.
